-       EL PRESENTE SIMPLE. LAS TERMINACIONES “S” DE LA TERCERA PERSONA.

PRESENTE SIMPLE EN TERCERA PERSONA.

 

• En la tercera persona del singular, el verbo siempre termina en -s:
  he wants, she needs, he gives, she thinks.
• Verbos que terminan en -y : en la tercera persona del singular, se cambia la -y por -ies:
  fly --> flies, cry --> cries
  Excepción: cuando una vocal precede a la -y:
  play --> plays, pray --> prays
• Añadimos -es a los verbos que terminan en:-ss, -x, -sh, -ch:
  he passes, she catches, he fixes, it pushes

 

SE UTILIZA PARA:

1.     Acciones habituales

I study everyday

They play basketball on Tuesdays

Sam goes to work at nine.

 

2.     COSAS EN GENERAL

Tom Works in Quito

She speaks English very well

My parents live in Germany

 

En la mayoría de los verbos simplemente colocamos la S al final del verbo, en la tercera persona del singular. Observa los siguientes ejemplos.

 

I live in La Paz

Sarah lives in La Paz too.

They work in Germany

Henry Works in Germany too.

I play Tennis

Mom plays Tennis too

 

Colocamos es detrás de verbo terminados en s, sh, ch, x y también en los verbos irregulares DO y GO.

 

We teach English

He teaches English too

I go to the Gym

She goes to the Gym too

 

Los verbo que termina en Y, cambian a IES. En estos casos reemplazamos la Y final por IES.

 

They study in the library

Maria studies in the library too

 

Birds fly

My chicken flies too.

PRESENTE SIMPLE NEGATIVO.

Para las formas negativa e interrogativa, se emplea DOES (= tercera persona del auxiliar 'DO') + el infinitivo del verbo.

Veamos algunos ejemplos:

-       He does not want vanilla.

-       He doesn´t speak spanish

-       I don´t live in Germany

-       They don´t play Tennis

-       Jeff doesn´t work

-       They don´t teach Chinese

-       Joseph doesn’t study

PRESENTE SIMPLE INTERROGATIVO

En el tiempo presente simple interrogativo empleamos nuevamente los auxiliares DO y DOES, que son imprescindibles para formar la pregunta

 

ESTRUCTURA:

Do           +              I/you/we/they        +              Verbo

Does       +              he/she/it +              Verbo

 

Ejemplos:

¿He lives in Germany                          Does he live in Germany?

Tina doesn´t speak spanish                 Does Tina speak Spanish?

They play Tennis                                  Do they play Tennis?

Jeff doesn´t work                                 Does Jeff work?

They don´t teach Chinese                   Do they teach Chinese?

Joseph doesn´t study                                         Does Joseph study?

 

Recuerda también las respuestas cortas con DO y DOES.

 

Do they teach Chinese?                                      Yes, they do                          No, they don´t

Does Jeff study?                                                  Yes, they do                          No, he doesn´t
